About the Hag

On March 5th, 2010 at 5:01 PM EST we published the first issue of Bearded Hag The Online Music Magazine from Detroit.

Our name taken from a line in the Rolling Stones classic "Jumpin' Jack Flash", the Hag
is designed to explore today's music activities locally and globally with a foundation on the past for those who were part of The Greatest Music Generation Ever, the sixties and seventies (and those who wish they had been).

The Hag will be published monthly  on the 15th of each month. We intend to take the right amount of time developing our stories to provide our readers with an in depth look into the subject being presented in a visually appealing format.

The interactive spaces will include the popular
Bearded Hag Blog
spaces for instant feedback to help shape our magazine, a chance for our readers to become the author on So You Wanna Be A Rock N Roll Writer page and where you can attach your ticket stub along with it’s memories to our online scrapbook page the Vintage Stub Gallery, all composed to allow our readers to share their stories and build a community atmosphere in our online village.

ENJOY what you see and read, EXPRESS your ideas, thoughts and wishes to help us grow, EMBRACE the magazine as one of your own and then go out and tell 750,000 of your closest friends (that ought to do it, thanks).

Features of the Hag

*      What’s Going On, articles and news briefs on events, bands, venues, music industry activity and opinions on what matters.

*      The Greatest Music Generation Ever, a series of essays on how the sixties and seventies was the greatest generation of music and how it continues to be the main driving force for the next one.

*      Profile, in depth and personal look into the people from the past and present that connect with our readers and the Detroit area.

*      Record Time, music reviews on current and past releases relevant to our reader’s interest. If you think finding good NEW music is about as impossible as finding a well paved road in Michigan you might be surprised. There still is great new music out there for people who like new music even if they are over 40 and just because we have grey hair (if any at all) doesn’t mean we still can’t crank it up to rock out!

*      Performance, a showcase of significant “live” performances in and around Detroit with concert reviews, photos and more.

*      Venue, behind the scenes and in front of the stage look at Detroit’s finest places to see your favorite acts or to just kick back and enjoy the elements.

*      Travel, music based travel destinations, because you can’t appreciate home cookin’ if every so often you don’t go out and eat.

*      Express Yourself, the popular Bearded Hag Blog space dedicated to our readers to express themselves and become a part of the magazine’s evolution.

*      So You Wanna Be A Rock ‘N Roll Writer, then listen now to what I say, readers opportunity to send us their articles to be published on the Hag. Send us a word or text document of your article for consideration to mytwocents@beardedhag.com.

*      Vintage Stub Gallery, Send us a scanned jpeg of your vintage ticket stubs along with a brief reflection of your memories (or even if you can't remember) for consideration to mytwocents@beardedhag.com.
