Pink Floyd

Anaheim Stadium

May 1977

This ticket is from Pink Floyd's Animals tour of 1977.  While in line at Anaheim Stadium, a guy comes up to me and tells me he's too high to carry his bag in with him, could I carry it?  (This was back in the day when you could bring your own beverage to outdoor shows, pre 9/11.)  So I said, "No Problem."  Little did I know I was carrying a quarter pound of weed.

George Harrison

Olympia Stadium

December 1974

This concert had Ravi Shankar opening, and Harrison's band included Billy Preston, and Tom Scott's LA Express used on Joni Mitchell's, “Miles of Aisles” album.  The crowd called George back for three encores, but quickly dispersed when he brought Ravi out for the third one to chant “Hare Krishna”.

Eric Clapton

Olympia Stadium

July 1975

Nice view from the floor for this '75 Clapton show.  Highlights were the songs from “Layla”.

Paul Mc Cartney & Wings

Wings Over America

Olympia Stadium

May 1976

Waited in line for four hours to get a ticket this show (Wings Over America).  When I got to the ticked window, they closed the doors and shut the window.  Stood there for a minute, before they announced selling tickets for a second show, so I was first in line and ended up with 6th row seats (Hmmm wonder who got the first 5 rows?)!  Watching "Yesterday" being played by Paul McCartney 15 feet away was unforgettable.

Don’t remember anything about this show other than I used to get shit from my friends for liking them!

Hall & Oates

Center Stage

1979

Went because my friend talked me into going, we didn't have tickets and it was sold out. We turn around and a guy had 2 extra! I enjoyed the show but still don't own anything by them.

Jeff Beck

Masonic Auditorium

May 1975

This ticket is from the Jeff Beck/John McLaughlin tour of 1975.  They took turns being the opening or closing act.  On this night Beck played second, but McLaughlin came out for the encore.

Joe Jackson

Ramones

Masonic Auditorium

October 1979

The Ramones and 999 were opening acts, but I went to see Joe Jackson and was subjected to this band that wore jeans, every song was short and sounded the same. I said to my friend, who are these guys; they suck, turned out to be the Ramones. I enjoyed Joe a lot at least!

Aaron Carter

State Theater

February 2001

Got a good excuse for this one, it was my daughter’s first concert. I wanted to be the one who took her, and she had a friend go with us. I impressed her by running into a friend who worked there; he sat us in the mezzanine next to Kirk Gibson's wife and their son. Highlight of the evening was Aaron doing a version of "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" The things we do for our kids!

EDITOR'S NOTE: Although we can not consider this stub vintage, we do feel the story is classic! Plus it publicly humiliates one of our own.

Prince

Time

Vanity 6

Crisler Arena

February 1983

Prince, the Time and Vanity 6 all in one show!

Great night of funk and soul; thank you Electrifying Mojo for turning me on to the purple one.
